Jefferson County Employee Newsletter: County Line, 1976-2005

The "County Line" employee newsletter was created in 1976 for the purpose of enhancing employee communications within the county. It was first published monthly by the Personnel Department, then by the Administrative Services Division, and later by the Public Information Office. It became bi-monthly starting in 2000.

The newsletter highlighted a different employee every month; celebrated national and local awards as well as the employee of the month; recent hires, anniversaries, retirements, and births and deaths; news about softball teams and bowling leagues; credit union news and educational columns; and had a classified ad section. It also described the functions of a different department every month.

The first unnamed issue of the newsletter was published August 20, 1976, and it advertised a contest to name it. A $25 U.S. Savings Bond was given to the employee who submitted the winning name. It was thereafter published as "The Jefferson County Line" until August 1990 when it was shortened to simply "County Line." The last issue of record appears to be the July/August 2005 issue.
